VECTOR 3 was founded as a graphics software company in 1984 and started creating real-time graphics for live television in 1988. This was a new and exciting area of broadcast at that time and successful projects such as live election coverage for Televisió de Catalunya set the cast for the company’s future activities.

One year later, the same channel commissioned Vector 3 to create a broadcast automation system to improve quality and relieve operators from constant manual operation. This system was developed and achieved frame-accuracy.

In 1995 we noted two new tendencies in European broadcasting. The first was the rebirth of television channels as self-sustaining business models, rather than as costly platforms of political/cultural power. The second was the creation of TV channels aimed at smaller audiences than ever before. As a response to these changes, we drew on our years of graphics and automation experience to create VECTORBOX, the original all-in-one playout solution, the same year.

We appreciate the hundreds of engineers and technicians who have installed or operated our systems in over 900 TV channels worldwide. Each of these professionals ‘behind the cameras’ has contributed to the VECTORBOX design and success and inspired us in our daily effort to be the best.
